At 16 weeks! Its a Boy!

It's a Girl!

So here is the story of how twins all came about...
Brett and I have been married 9 years and after being married for 2 we decided we wanted to start our family. After a year of trying and no luck we started going to our dr. to find out what was wrong. It took many dr appts and frustration to find out the problem. When we found out our best option was invitro we both didn't feel like that was the right thing to do..money was a factor, and with only a 60% chance it just didn't seem right to do at the time.
Of course now looking back we know why it didn't feel right. Little Avery was waiting for us to become her parents. I can't imagine my life without this special little spirit..she lights up our world! After Avery I was totally content with just her. I felt so complete to have this precious baby and to become a mother. But after a couple of years I really wanted her to have a sibling. Brett and I talked about what was next for us all the time, but nothing was in our cards due to finances..we were unable to pay for adoption or anything else for that matter..
My friend Kendra always knew our situation. One day while hanging out she told me about a friend that had done invitro and had gotten it paid for..Its a program at the U called the miracle fund. Its anonymous donors who put money into this fund to help those that cannot afford it themselves. Of course I was curious, so she got me the info and I called right away to see if we qualified. I called the lady in charge and we met all the qualifications, so she sent me all the paperwork to get started. It was almost the same process as adoption..it took Brett and I awhile to get everything submitted..finally we did and the we had to wait..wait..to see if we were accepted..Finally we got a letter saying we were chosen. We both were in shock, excited and anxious all at the same time. It was not over yet we still had to have a homestudy and wait for that to get submitted, so it was a process! I don't remember exactly the dates, but after hearing about it from my friend until we got started was about a year!
Our first appt was with Dr. Johnstone in October, but I needed some tests done before we could get started. After those results I need a little surgery to remove some tissue in my uterus. So we really started the process in December of 2011. No one really can prepare you for what your body goes through until its happening. My amazing husband had to give me 3 shots a day to get my body to produce multiple eggs. Once my body did that then they extract them and find the mature eggs to harvest. They got 20 eggs, but only 13 were mature enough for the procedure. Then they take the sperm and implant them into the eggs, and see how they survive. In the mean time I still have to do shots to prepare by body to except the embryos. My body did not respond the best to the shots, but I made it! So all in all we got 5 good embryos!! Now it was decision time..how many eggs were we going to do?? They only let you do 2, so It was one or two..It was a hard decision if we only do one and it doesn't take then what?? if we do 2 maybe one would take. So we decided that day of the transfer to do 2. This was our one chance since we were getting paid for and we wanted all the odds.
After transferring the eggs I had to take it easy for a few days. Brett was awesome he let me take it easy while he was Mr. mom! Friends and family were so amazing to bring me food and come visit. Then we had to wait 12 days to see if we were pregnant. They said not to think about it, but how do you not! It was a long 12 days!! We went in for a blood test on Saturday, and they said they would call for the results later that day. I had to go into work, and it was horrible I could not concentrate I was on pins and needles. I missed a call and had a voicemail..I knew it was them, but I was so scared to listen to it..this was my future on the line. I listened to it with my heart pounding out of my chest..she said the 3 words I never thought I would hear..You are pregnant! I was in disbelief my emotions were going crazy! I was crying, screaming! I immediately called Brett and we had a tender moment of both of us silent on the phone because we were both in tears..What a miracle and I couldn't believe it was happening. Avery was a miracle I thought would never happen and here was another one..I was so humbled.
It was still so early, but everyone knew we were doing this, so we really couldn't keep it a secret. We went in for our first appt at the U for our six weeks to hear the heartbeat. We were both nervous and excited..she found a heartbeat and another one..she said your having twins! Brett and I both just sat there in shock..What! I didn't even think one would work..now I have 2 WOW! After the appointment we both just sat in the car in silence..2 babies! We were humbled once again.
At 16 weeks we found out we r having a boy and a girl and we couldn't feel more blessed. Avery is going to be an amazing big sister! I am now 22 weeks along and am feeling them kick and roll around..its pretty amazing. Nothing can compare to how i felt when I got to hold Avery for the first time, and I know this will be a new and exciting experience. God has given me more than I ever thought possible, and I am forever grateful. A little sweet spirit is a gift no matter how they got here. Life is so precious and these r the moments that bring you back to what is most important in life..Family!

Wheeler farm

Avery and I had a fun day together last week. We went to Wheeler farm to see the animals..
This time she loved the ducks, and kept chasing them..poor ducks! After seeing all the animals we went to the park for a picnic and some play time. I love having mommy/daughter days together.

Thanksgiving point

Avery has found her new best friend in the neighborhood. Her name is Gabbie and she lives right across the street. These two peas in a pod! they are so much alike its crazy..They play so  cute together and just love each other so much. We were able to go with them to Thanksgiving point to see the animals... Avery loved the wagon ride and they both loved feeding the cows.

Avery has been so scared of getting too close to horses, but she conquered her fear. She rode a pony! She loved it and smiled the whole time. She wanted did not want to get off, and has asked me everyday if she can go back!

Aren't they cute?? Just cute little buddies. We love having Gabbie live right across the street.

Swimming!

Avery asks to go swimming everyday, so we finally went. We took her to a pool she had never been to the Lehi rec center. No surprise she loved it! They had 2 different kid areas and she would go back and forth. Daddy is always so much fun to have at the pool. They had a blast!

So Brett tried to convince her the whole time to go on the big green slide with him. She kept saying no until we bribed her with a new scooter (something she has been asking for forever) So she went down, but I don't think she will be doing that again. Her face afterwards was pure fear!! Brett said the slide was pitch black and super fast!

You can't really see her face, but it was priceless! We thought she would forget about the scooter, but she kept talking about it and telling everyone she saw. So afterwards  we headed to Walmart for her new scooter. She loves it and rides it everyday!

Bowling!

With our seven peaks passes we can bowl for free, so we thought to make it a family night.
This was Avery's first time bowling, and she loved it!! Daddy gave her bowling lessons and was a good teacher!

She loved the slide and wanted to get the bowling ball by herself, and soon enough she didn't want any help. She is a natural bowler! She cheered everytime and was super excited!

She made friends with the girls in the next lane. They were so cute with her they became her best bowling buddies! We ended the night with some yummy ice cream. Can't wait to go again!

Cabin retreat

Since some of us didn't get to go on the cruise we had a little retreat with just the siblings & my mom and dad..We left the kids at home to have some quality time with the fam..Anne and Karl even came from Oregan!

We got up there friday afternoon and just lounged around while everyone showed up..We had a special night planned for my dad's 70th birthday! We started the festivities off with my dad's favorite foods and treats..you can't go wrong with twinkies, fritos &  dip and charleston chews.. We had hot dogs for dinner also my dads favorite..

Then it was time for gifts. My dad has always loved Micheal Jackson..growing up he would always blar his music in the car. So it was only appropriate to give him a life size of Mr. Micheal Jackson to put in his theater room. My dad loved it, and even did a little Micheal move..we could not stop laughing!!

My dad always talks about his list of regrets, but the one at the top of the list is not seeing Elvis in concert..Well it was his lucky day..Elvis came to him.. Mitch dressed up in an Elvis costume and lipsinked is music..We were all laughing so hard that we were crying! Mitch had the moves and all. It was so awesome! My dad loved it!

We spent the rest of the night chatting til 130 in the morning. We always have so much fun together reminising about the old days.

The rest of the weekend we relaxed, took naps, played games and of course ate plenty of delicious food. On Saturday night we got the privledge to hear about my mom and dad's mission and see pictures and videos. They had an amazing mission, and it was so fun to hear of all their experiences!

What a fun weekend and something we all needed! I hope we can do it again someday..

On the way home on Sunday our car battery was dead and Aimee got a flat tire! What a day, but it all got fixed thanks to the handy men!

Feeding the ducks

My mom was down watching Henry, so we joined them for the day. We took them to Daybreak park to feed the ducks. They were more interested in throwing rocks into the lake. It was a perfect day, so we decided to go over to the park and let me play for awhile. They got tons of energy out!! These 2 play so well together and are the happiest kids..always laughing. Henry likes to make Avery laugh.

Petco Easter egg hunt

Petco had an Easter egg hunt for dogs and kids..We were a little late, so most of the eggs were gone..but not to worry we found a golden egg with a ring pop..Avery was totally content with just that. She had so much fun taking Annie around the store to explore. At the end she got a prize.. a cute little Easter bunny! She was so excited..

Easter with the Muirs

It was such a nice day on Easter, so we decided to spend it at the park. The park we went to we had it all to  ourselves..so nice! We started off with yummy food, and the kids played while they hid the eggs.
Avery loved getting eggs, but mostly loved seeing what was inside. After each egg she would stop to open it up and eat the candy..she knows the good part about Easter! Avery got a new dress and of course starting striping down to put it on.

Such cute little cousins posing for a picture together.

They all played so cute together and Jennah got right in on the fun. They had races and giggled the whole way..such a fun day! This Easter was full of so many fun traditions..
