Shauna bought her this outfit, and I promised I would take some pictures for her to see how cute she is in it. This has to be my favorite outfit on her. Portland (Part 2)

Sunday night we headed to our beach house in Manzanita, Oregon. We stopped in a cute little quaint town called Cannon Beach on the way. It has cute little shops and the best places to eat. It was only 20 minutes from where we were staying. Our beach house was amazing the whole upstairs had huge windows, and had the most beautiful view ever. Right when we got there we went down to the beach. The pictures below are from that night, and all I could keep saying is wow this is so beautiful i never want to leave. We spent the rest of the night playing games and and enjoying the view from the beach house.
The next day we spent more time at the beach looking for shells and the weather was perfect. It was such a sunny day, so we spent the rest of the morning sitting outside on the deck. In the afternoon we headed back to cannon beach to do a little shopping, and we ate the most amazing clam chowder ever!! The beach house was great and I wish we could of stayed there forever.

On tuesday I was able to catch up with my friend Shauna. We went to high school together, but havent' seen eachother for 8 years. We re connected on facebook and I found out she lived only 15 minutes from my sister. She came got me in the morning and we headed off to go shopping at the outlets. We had so much fun catching up on our lives. She has two boys they are so cute and have the funnest little personalities. I am so glad I was able to meet them. Shauna it was so good to see you, and I hope it won't be the last. Hopefully next year I can bring Brett and Avery along. Portland was a great vacation, and I am so glad I was able to go. Brett thanks so much for letting me go, and taking such good care of our little girl.

Portland trip

I arrived in Portland on Friday June 12th at 9:30 in the morning. When I arrived we got started right away on seeing Portland. Just down from my sisters apartment they have the cutest little shops and cafes, so we spent the afternoon walking around those. One of my favorite places was a little bakery called two tarts. It has little bit sized cookies that are so yummy! Its my kind of place because you can try a little taste of everything. After shopping we headed on the street car which is just like trax down to the harbor. We ate lunch at a really good seafood place and we sat outside enjoying the beautiful scenery. I wish I had pictures from that day, but my camera wasn't working.
After getting back I started not feeling well, and I thought it was because I had been up since 5:30 and I just needed to lay down. As we were walking back to the hotel my dad also wasn't feeling well. So lets just say it wasn't me feeling tired we both had come down with the flu. Avery and my mom both had it, so me and my dad were the next targets. We were sick in the hotel all night-not fun! My poor dad was way more sick than me with chills and all. We got through the night and just prayed we would be better by the graduation which was the next day at 3. I was feeling a lot better by morning, so thank goodness it was just the 24 hour bug.
Saturday was the big day the graduation. I am so proud of my sister for this huge accomplishment. She graduated with her masters degree in social work. I know she will do great things with her career. Way to go sister!!! After graduation we went to a restaurant that my sister and a few of her friends rented out for the night. We had a delicious dinner buffet and were able to meet all her friends I have heard about forever. We had a great night and I was so glad I was not sick in the hotel and was able to share this special day with my sister.

Sunday June 14Th we headed out early to go see all the falls. The drive was so beautiful so green and I was in love with Portland already. Every fall we went to was breath taking. I wish we had more time to hike up to all of them, but there was so much to see and so little time. We did hike the horse trail it was so fun! The pictures don't do them justice you for sure have to be there. I hope someday I can take Brett and Avery to see it. We had a great morning enjoying the awesome scenery that Portland has to offer. We had to get back because Rick and Austin were flying in. We spent the rest of the afternoon going to lunch and taking Jenny and Troy to the airport. Then we were off to the beach house, so more pictures to come.

Boston turns 1!

On Monday Boston turned one. We were invited to his birthday party for fun in the sun. Too bad the weather wasn't cooperating, but at least it let up so we could swim. The funnest part was to watch the kids play. Pat & Heidi came and brought their little boy G.K. he is only 3 weeks older than Avery and they were so funny together. They both were obsessed with playing with the water bottles and trying to steal it from each other-so hilarious. G.K. kept wanting to grab Avery and bite her head, and she didn't seem to mind. At least she wasn't the one being the bully this time. I was surprised she wasn't grabbing him she usually is the one bugging the boys.

Boston had so much fun opening his presents and especially digging into his cake. He just went right in not even hesitating. He loved it and made a huge mess! I can't believe he is a year old how time flies. He is such a cute boy and I am so happy that Avery has a cousin so close in age.
They will have many fun times together.

After the birthday festivities we headed outside to swim. Avery enjoyed it for a little bit until she got hungry and I had to take her out. As soon as I was done feeding her I put her back in and this time she was not a happy camper. I think getting back in was just too cold! At least we had fun entertainment while being out of the pool. Brett decided to get into Avery's float and do a little diving. I can't believe his legs fit in that-what a funny husband I have. He was doing funny dives and making us all laugh.. no dull moment with my hubby. We had such a fun night and we are excited for many more birthdays with cousin Boston.

More summer fun..

Last Thursday my friend Laci invited us to go swimming at her parent's pool. It was so nice to get outside. It wasn't very warm outside, but the pool was like 90 degrees so it was all worth it. Avery loved the crab float and Kaden especially loved turning her around in it. Thanks Laci for inviting us, and we hope to have many more days swimming this summer.

On Sunday we went to Kendra & Kendal's for dinner. While the boys were finishing dinner we went outside with the kids. It was the first time I put Avery in a swing, and she loved it. She was making so many funny faces... We spent the rest of the night enjoying a yummy dinner and enjoying each others company. It was such a nice day to spend outside and let the kids play. Thanks guys for such a fun night.

Last week we went to visit one of my friends I grew up with. Carina was in my ward growing, but she moved in 4th grade. We have re connected on facebook and decided to get together. We went to her house in Lehi to let the kids play and catch up. It was so fun to reminisce about the old days and to catch up on what is new in our lives now. She has 3 cute kids and is such a cute mom. He little girl Sienna is only 2 months younger than Avery. We wish we lived closer, so they could play when they start running around. Thanks Carina for such a fun afternoon I hope we can get together again soon.

Our weekend

Saturday night I went with my parents to a wedding reception. It Sarah Merkley's wedding which is Avery's birth mom's friend. I feel connected to her parents since they have been there for Sam since day one of her pregnancy and through the whole adoption process. Being in Virginia for those 2 weeks I got the privilege to get to know the Merkleys very well. He is also the bishop of the singles ward that Sam attends. I wanted to take Avery to see them, so they can see how cute she is and how much she has grown. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so glad we were able to go. Avery has been sick with a cold again, so I was debating to go or not. I am so glad we went. My parents were watching Evie for the weekend, so she came along and it was so nice to have her there to entertain Avery. As you can see in the picture above Evie and Avery enjoyed dancing to the music.

Sister Merkley, Me & Avery

This is the bride Sarah Merkley and her fiance. Avery just loved looking at Sarah instead of the camera.

Bishop Merkley(he wanted to hold her right off. He kept commenting on how adorable she is)

This isn't the same night, but I had to post this sweet picture. The last couple of days she has been carrying this doll everywhere she goes. She gives her hugs and kisses its just the cutest thing ever. Her poor nose in the picture! She has had another cold, and this time she has a red nose from me wiping it so much. I hope she gets better soon.
