Harris reunion 2011

We had our annual Harris reunion on August 5th. Anne was able to come down from Oregon to join us it was so nice to be all together (minus mom and dad). Mitch and I were in charge of it this year, so we decided to have a day close to home. We started off by going to the Kearns pool at noon. Everyone had a blast there was something for every age, so no one was bound to get bored!! Most of the older kids loved the diving boards, and everyone did some pretty awesome tricks!

Mitch, Brett, Danny & Troy went off the big platform diving boards. The rest of us that were too chicken watched from the side lines. Avery of course found friends. Their was this older couple who had squirters and they were so cute with her. They let her squirt them over and over and she was in heaven.

After swimming we all met at the West Jordan park for dinner. We had the most amazing pizza from the pie, and we all stuffed ourselves! After we ate Andrew was a little tuckered out and fell asleep in his chair(doesn't look to comfy, but he was out like a light). It was so nice to sit and relax while the kids played. We also sang Happy Birthday to all the summer birthdays 7 to be exact.

The highlight of the night was the human sling shot that I brought. We used them at camp and had a blast, so I thought my family would enjoy it. They loved it!! We played with those things for like 2 hours. The kids couldn't get enough they wore themselves out. I think I need to get me some of these they were a huge hit.

Lola & Henry

The end of July Lola and Henry came over for the weekend. Heather was doing a triathlon in Idaho, so they asked me to watch them overnight. It was so fun to have them over since we don't' get to see them much. Ashlyn also came to hang out and it was so nice to have an extra set of hands to help. After Avery's nap we headed off to the splash park in South Ogden. The kids had so much fun and played so cute together. Henry was loving the water!! He reminds me so much of Avery always so happy and smiling all the time. They played so hard and were wore out by the end. When we got home we put the two little ones to bed while Ashlyn, Lola and I watched Jumanji.

The next day we just hung around the house and played. Avery loved having her cousins over she always loves having someone to play with. They were so fun to have over and I hope we get to do it again soon.

Camping July 2011

We were invited to go camping with our friends this year. They go every year with his parents and their friends and kids. Its a huge group and we took up a whole street at the camp site! We were so excited that we were invited this year..we always hear how much fun they have.

We went up July 22nd through the 24th. We went to a place up by Heber called Currant creek it is such a beautiful place! We took Brett's parents camping trailer to try it out and it was so nice to have. Avery right off loved being outdoors and exploring. Their were these 2 older girls(i already forgot their names) that were so cute with Avery. They would take her on walks, help her ride her bike, and searching for flowers. It was so fun to have so many kids around. The first day we got there the kids all had water guns and were chasing everyone around getting them soaking wet..Avery was right in the middle having a blast. They would all ride their bikes around the huge circle and best of all get dirty.

One camp had a little kiddie pool, and they invited Avery over to play. They had two little girls Avery's age to play with. They had so much fun in the pool and most of all eating Cheetos together! Avery loved exploring at night with all her friends and hanging out by the camp fire. This was the first time we had taken Avery camping besides going to my cabin. She slept so good and even with Brett and I in bed with her. This was the first time she has ever slept with us, so we were a little worried, but she did awesome!!

They have a huge lake just a couple of miles from our campsite. So their was one negative thing about that place is the deer flys..they were everywhere and all day you were fighting them off you!! Avery hated them and would get so mad. Come to find out Ben and his family have been going up to Currant creek for 20 years, and they said the flys have never been this bad. That's good to know because I was not excited about going again, so I guess I will try again knowing that. We loved spending time at the lake, but the flys would eat you alive! So on Sunday morning alot of people were gone, so we swam where the boats docked(which was against the rules). It was so nice there because no flys would bother us.

The best things about camping were: the food we ate so good! Navajo tacos were my favorite. Putting Avery to bed and sitting by the campfire with the adults and laughing our heads off! Being with our friends Ben and Gaby. Watching Avery playing with all the kids and loving the outdoors. Thanks for inviting us! I hope we get to go again.

Hogle zoo

We met up with some cousins at the zoo. I hadn't taken Avery since last summer, and last time she wasn't into it much. This year she loved it! She especially loved the monkeys seeing them swing from tree to tree..she would giggle so hard! She also loved the giraffes, elephants and tigers. We also had fun riding the carousel and ended off with riding the train. We need to get back there again before summer is over.

Overcoming fears

Avery would only go on a few rides at Lagoon. Every time we would try to get her to try new rides, but for some reason she was terrified! She wanted to go on the same ones over and over..Brett and I were determined to get her over her fears. First we took her on the Dragonfly(the little kid swings.) She was not happy about it and pretty much screamed until it started. People kept staring at us, but we were determined to get her to like it. So after all that she loved it and we went on 3 more times that night. She also went on the helicopters, and puff the magic dragon roller coaster. Its so fun to go to Lagoon now because she will ride more rides.

Avery loves the fountains. She gets soaking wet and loves every minute. She gets right in the middle of it and just giggles the whole time. We have loved our Lagoon passes!
